Phil served as a police officer before qualifying as a solicitor. He began practising law in 1989, specialising in civil and criminal litigation for ten years.
On leaving legal practice he consulted to a major City Council with a specific ongoing litigation problem. Phil created a new department, recruited and trained the staff, and implemented a new litigation system. The new system reduced the City Council’s annual outlay on damages and legal costs by £1.2 million in its inaugural year, and a further £1.4 million in its second year.
Since then, Phil has specialised in delivering legal skills training, operating on a freelance basis.
Phil delivers training on the PSC, including the Core Modules (Advocacy and Communication Skills, Client Care and Professional Standards and Financial and Business Skills) and a number of electives.
