Having held senior positions in legal learning and development, Mark brings a deep understanding of the sector and how learning and development can help achieve firms’ business objectives.
At DLA Piper between 2008 and 2013, Mark held international responsibility for associate development and partner selection. Subsequently he was Head of Learning and Development for Nabarro and now works as an independent consultant.
Mark works with fresh delivering a variety of training courses, focusing especially on developing people skills. He also helps clients review and refresh their competence frameworks and learning and development offerings. His wider work takes him in to a diverse range of industries enabling culture change, working with teams, developing and coaching leaders.
Mark has an MSc in Organisational Development and Consultancy, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring Skills.
In a 20-year training and HR career Mark has enjoyed coaching individuals both formally and informally. This led to him completing the Coaching and Mentoring Skills Post Graduate Diploma at Sheffield Business School in 2013. This is a world-leading course with substantial input from the UK’s top practitioners.
Mark’s in-depth experience of firm’s partner promotion processes and new partner development schemes make him ideally suited to coaching both aspiring and new partners. He also understands very well the demands on senior business support professionals in law firms.
As a coach Mark is pragmatic, direct and supportive. He understands how time poor leaders in the professional services sector are, and the concomitant need for focus and results. Progress is made largely through skilled questioning and listening; input and feedback will be offered where needed. Coaching relationships will be conducted in complete confidentiality.
